Plexus Wheel

Plexus Wheel

In the age of fitness, everyone is in the gym doing some kind of exercise that puts a strain on your lower back. Whether it’s deadlifts, squats, shrugs, cable twisting, some type of rowing, or even the exercise that took me out, back extensions, we perform these exercises at high velocity and with very little rest between workouts. Personally, adding a 45-lb plate to my back extension was amazing the day that I did it. The next morning, however, I woke up to minimal mobility and pain that shot through my lower back. In my head, my back was just tight and I could stretch and get through it. The moment I bent over, a sharp pain hit and I wasn’t able to straighten my back out. I was scared for the first time in my fitness history.

I visited a chiropractor and was told that my vertebrae was off center and had a nerve ending being pinched. The best solution was to be adjusted in the office and slowly start to extend my back. Of complete happenstance, The Plexus Wheel was delivered to my office 2 days later. Plexus is the perfect way to relieve back tension as well as improve flexibility and balance. The Plexus Wheel is designed specifically to help with lower and upper back pain by helping align your spine and targeting the tight lateral muscles that run up and down your back. I called my chiropractor and told him what I received and asked if I was allowed to use it. I had clearance and relief all within a half hour.  There are three different size wheels available that allow different levels of pressure. The larger the wheel the more surface area to support your back. The smaller the wheel the more you can target a specific muscle.

The very easy to use wheel is made of a rigid core that can support up to 400-lbs and a 6mm thick hand-wrapped compression mat for extreme comfort. The wheel measures 5 inches across so that it fits straight down your back in between the shoulder blades and targets that hard to reach lateral muscles. The owners of The Plexus Wheel met with and talked to more than 30 chiropractors and physical therapists who say that stretching and exercising with the Plexus Wheel every day for only five minutes can help reduce lower back pain. The muscles around the lumbar (lower back region) spine start to form muscle memory with daily stretching helping pain already there and lessen the chances of further injury.

While this wheel is amazing for extending your back, it’s also perfect for the yoga enthusiast that needs a little assistance getting into challenging positions. Never fear working on your balance or on achieving the Cobra Pose as long as you have the Plexus Wheel. I guarantee you, it will make your life a little more limber.
